You have many shadows

We will confront, acknowledge, and integrate the many shadows you cast upon your world. Therapy for thoughtful, self-aware adults who feel internally divided.

My Work

Do you sense that parts of you are in conflict — outwardly capable, yet inwardly unsettled? Therapy can be more than symptom relief; it can be a space for profound self-understanding and intentional transformation. I offer a refined, deeply attentive therapeutic environment where complexity is not simplified, but thoughtfully explored.

My practice is designed for reflective, growth-oriented adults who are ready to move beyond surface-level coping and engage in meaningful inner work. As a first-generation immigrant with a strong philosophical foundation, I bring a culturally attuned, psychologically sophisticated perspective that honors the many forces shaping your identity — personal history, relationships, culture, and the unconscious patterns that quietly guide your life.

Drawing from Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Existential thought, and somatic approaches, I help clients recognize and shift long-standing relational dynamics, understand the protective strategies that once served them, and develop a more integrated way of being. Our work together is collaborative, nuanced, and paced to allow for lasting change rather than temporary relief.

The result is often a deeper sense of clarity, emotional steadiness, and self-trust — along with the freedom to live more deliberately and authentically.

I am a former college professor, President of the Minnesota Jungian Society, and a BBHT-approved supervisor committed to providing thoughtful, culturally responsive, depth-oriented care for those seeking a truly transformative therapeutic experience.

Our Services

Online Individual Therapy

I support individuals navigating young adulthood, immigration-related experiences, identity exploration, and the lifelong process of self-discovery with online individual therapy. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready to gain a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can be a valuable starting point for personal growth. I specialize in providing individual therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship stress, cultural assimilation stress, perfectionism, and life changes. Working collaboratively, we’ll explore how past and present experiences have shaped your current beliefs and emotional/behavioral patterns. After understanding the past, we will cultivate helpful, positive beliefs and patterns that lead to greater confidence, calmness, and authenticity.

This is depth therapy for people ready to understand themselves — not just cope with mental health symptoms.

Online Immigration Interview

I provide comprehensive, professional mental health evaluations for immigration cases (T-visas, Asylum, U-visas, VAWA). As a bilingual clinician, I conduct these interviews in Spanish or English, ensuring your story is accurately heard without the barrier of an interpreter. These assessments are thorough (typically 8–10 pages) and designed to support your legal case with clinical evidence.

"Sombra Psychotherapy provides services that are informed by the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, incorporating its concepts of 'parts' and 'Self' into a broader depth psychology framework. My approach is integrative, weaving IFS concepts with Somatic Experiencing and Jungian Depth Psychology to provide a holistic container for healing."

It is recommended that you contact your insurance provider to understand your coverage for out-of-network mental health services.

Good Faith Estimate:

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers must provide patients who don’t have insurance or are not using insurance with an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit http://www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Your Questions, Answered

How do I schedule my first online session or interview?

Simply select an intake or free consultation slot in the pop-up page that appears after you click a “ Request Appointment” Button found in the “Services” and “ Let’s Work Together” pages. On this new page, select an available time slot and complete the intake questionnaires before your scheduled appointment time. For an immigration Interview, please select the consult button so we can determine if I am the right provider for your case.  You’ll receive a secure video link and intake form via email.

Why do you not accept insurance?

We operate on a private-pay model to

1. To protect your privacy and confidentiality.

2. To give you the best therapeutic approach rather than insurance deciding your treatment.

3. No labeling. You will not carry a diagnosis on your records.

Upon request, we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. Immigration interviews are always paid out of pocket because of the nature of the appointment.
